Mother Callie Smith
Mother Callie Smith was born in Wheatley, Arkansas. Her
family later moved to Pittsburgh, Kansas where she was
educated in the public school system. After marrying and
moving to Wichita, Kansas she became involved in several
aspects of ministry. Under the leadership of the late Elder
Major Cremo, pastor of Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ
she worked in many capacities.  

     Mother Smith was a role model for women and young
people. She trained youth as a teacher for Sunday School,
Sunshine Band and Purity Class. She also served as the
Director of Public Relations for Kansas, Chairperson  of
Kansas Southwest Jurisdiction Sunday School
Department
and YPWW Department. She has organized choirs and was
for some time District Choir Director in historic Fort Scott,
Kansas and Choir Organizer/Director of Kansas State Youth
Choirs.

    During the late 1940’s the Lord called her into the
evangelism ministry. Renowned as an anointed speaker,
she has traveled extensively throughout the United States
conducting revivals and seminars.

    Gifted as an event planner and etiquette advisor she has
assisted with weddings, funerals and fundraising. Her
talents were recognized in the church where she served as
State Hospitality President in the state of Kansas for
several years. Many fundraising projects that she was a
part of helped to build the ministry. In the secular domain,
her fundraising techniques were used when she was a
manager for the Wichita Area Credit Union.   Also, her
distinct taste was utilized in interior design for an exclusive
senior citizen complex, Greenway Manor in Kansas.

    In 1958 Mother Smith was appointed to the position of
Kansas State President of Young Women’s Christian
Council (YWCC). Her dedication to the YWCC led to her  
appointment  of International President of the YWCC -a title
she continues to hold.

     As the International President of the Y\VCC she has
revitalized an organization that has a significant role in the
Church Of God In Christ. Through her influence she
continues to help mold the lives of young women
throughout the United States and abroad. She has utilized
her writing skills by creating multiple pamphlets and
booklets. Her elegant sense of style and grace is noted
through the royal color of purple and the orchid -both used
in the national organization. The National YWCC under the
direction of Mother Smith was responsible for the
installation of the security system in the McGlothen House;
a home created to accommodate senior/handicap women
when attending meetings in Memphis, Tennessee. Mother
Callie Smith has worked in nearly every auxiliary of the
Church Of God In Christ. This multi talented, anointed, and
gifted woman continues to use her gifts for the Glory and
Honor of God.
